Morning Crumb. Up at 4:30, so it’s warm by six.
A small bakery and coffee bar on East Vista Way. Sourdough, conchas, croissants and cinnamon rolls, baked once each morning, and good coffee from the minute the door opens. When something sells out, it’s gone until tomorrow.

What people say
A few recent notes. Sample reviews shown.
I set an alarm for the cinnamon rolls. Got there at 6:50, still warm, icing melting into the middle. Worth every minute of lost sleep.
The conchas taste like the ones my grandmother bought in Guadalajara. I drive from Carlsbad on Wednesdays for the pan dulce.
Ordered a tres leches for my dad’s 70th with two days’ notice. Mai called me back within the hour. It was gone in ten minutes at the party.
The bakers
Three of us, one oven, and a radio that only gets the ranchera station. We opened in 2019 in what used to be a key shop, and we still have the sign.
- Lupe
- Pan dulce and the morning shift. Learned conchas from her tía in Guadalajara and has made them every morning since 2009. She is the reason the shell is soft.
- Dan
- Sourdough, baguettes and the night mix. Keeps a starter that is older than the bakery. Will talk about hydration for as long as you let him.
- Mai
- Cakes and the coffee bar. Trained in a hotel pastry kitchen in San Diego. Writes every cake message by hand, so keep it to forty letters.
Come early
We open in the dark and close after lunch. The best of everything is gone by ten.
